RIRS or Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery is a new method of kidney stone removal using fiberoptic endoscope without any cuts on the skin. So it is virtually painless.
In this procedure scope is flexible scope is passed though the urinary passage to anywhere in kidney, stone is identified and then broken down with the use of laser. Smaller fragments are either brought out using basket or made dust using laser. Then stent is placed. It could be done as day care procedure as well. There is hardly any pain during surgery or after the surgery. Next day you are ready to join back your office. What else you want.
